Meorot Yerushalayim is a program in Har Nof, Jerusalem, for gap-year students, women only.
The only gap-year seminary geared exclusively to women who attended public school or grew up in non-observant homes, run by Rabbi Yaakov Lynn with 20-30 students a year and individualized attention; about a quarter of graduates go on to Touro or Stern College.

How niche are the people that go to this program?
It depends on what they are trying to bring to the school that year.
How much were you treated as an adult vs. managed like a student?
My year, girls were immature so we had a lot more babying but I’d say that’s common enough everywhere.
How much prior Torah learning background did you need to keep up?
There were different levels of knowledge and classes but I never felt embarrassed to not know something because other girls were probably wondering the same thing.
How was the food, realistically, day to day?
Repetitive and I wish they took into account more what girls had to say but the quality was really good.
How would you rate the living conditions?
Girls are messy so.
How much prior Hebrew did you need to not feel lost?
In class we had translations unless in the advanced one.
Did the program give you a real social circle of Israelis to lean on?
Met other sem girls but not so many Israelis (unless you were the type to party)
How much did the social scene depend on your particular cohort?
Really depends on the year.
